Another life lost in our “Women’s Lives Cut Short” series.

For every year the person has lived I try to draw their picture for an equivalent minute. But I prioritise the art of ensuring they still look like them, with their soul and their essence present. However, the picture will always be incomplete, as they did not live their whole lives out as they should have.

Lucy-Anne was 30 when her life was cut short.

Lucy was murdered by her then estranged husband, whom kicked, punched and stamped on her innumerable times. Resulting in 37 rib fractures, a broken breastbone and collapsed lungs.

Lucy's family described her as fun, honest and the life of the party.

This drawing is far from completion, it shouldn't be this way. Her life shouldn't have stopped at only 30 years due to an abuser.

Her five children shouldn’t be left without their mother.

Lucy-Anne Rushton, 30
