Another life lost in the “Women’s Lives Cut Short” series.

For every year the person has lived I try to draw their picture for an equivalent minute. But I prioritise the art of ensuring they still look like them, with their soul and their essence present. However, the picture will always be incomplete, as they did not live their whole lives out as they should have.

Raneem was 22 when her life was cut short.
She was killed by her estranged partner outside her mother’s home, her mother, Khaola was also murdered. Seven calls were made to police on the weeks leading up to that night. Calls were also made on the night of the murders, where police told Raneem to lock herself inside and the police would come round in the morning. By the morning it was too late. The police failed Raneem and Khaola.

Raneem and Khaola should still be here today. Raneem was described as a flower that never stopped blossoming.
